Marko Čular is an Associate Professor at the Department of Accounting and
Auditing, Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism, University of Split. His
primary professional interests lie within the broader field of accounting and
auditing, with a particular focus on the effectiveness of cybersecurity auditing,
cooperation between internal and external auditors, the effectiveness of audit
committees, and the quality of corporate disclosures. As part of his academic and professional
development, he has presented scientific and professional papers at more than seventy national and
international scientific and professional conferences and has published over seventy scientific and
professional papers in national and internationally recognized A* journals and publications, including
Contemporary Accounting Research (Financial Times Top 50 Journal), European Accounting Review,
International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, International Journal of Auditing, ISACA
Journal, and IIA Internal Auditor Magazine. He is an active member of The Institute of Internal
Auditors, The European Accounting Association, The European Confederation of Institutes of Internal
Auditing, The Association of Accountants and Financial Professionals Split, The Croatian Operational
Research Society, and The Croatian Institute of Internal Auditors. Since 2014, he has been a member
of the organizing and program committee of the conference Accounting, Auditing and Taxes in
Practice. He is the recipient of the Croatian Association of Accountants and Financial Professionals
award in the field of auditing and received an honorable mention for the Global IIA Ted Keys Award
for his paper Cybersecurity Assurance. He has been participated in several scientific and ERASMUS+
projects as well as numerous professional projects. He is actively involved in professional education,
regularly delivering training programs for professional organizations in Croatia and abroad,
particularly in the continuing education of internal, external and state auditors.
